The war in Ukraine has been going on for two years now. There seems to be no end to the financial means of the Russian army, and that’s partly because of ... us! The Belgian gas-transport company Fluxys is to blame because they facilitate the export of Russian gas to other, non-EU, countries via the harbor of Zee-Brugge.
If we truly want to halt the Russian war effort, we need to stop this! The primary shareholders of Fluxys are, in fact, our own municipalities, and they need to be held accountable immediately.
The municipalities of Brussels alone can pull their weight with shares worth up to 1.1 billion euro. About time then, that they own up to it! Let’s increase the pressure on our government and show them that the people want to end the million-euro contract between Fluxys and the Russian gas supplier.
So, we invite you to come listen to the presentations of Promote Ukraine and TegenGas. Get familiar with the connections between our economic gains, the climate crisis, war, and the violations against human rights. Together, we make sense of the tangled mess that is the shareholder structure of Fluxys – one that seems to remove any sense of responsibility! And during the second half of the evening, we will contemplate the actions we can take to make the cities in Brussels and Flanders come to its senses!

De oorlog in Oekraïne woedt nu al twee jaar. De kas van het Russische leger lijkt maar niet uitgeput te geraken, en dat mede dankzij… ons land! Het Belgische gastransportbedrijf Fluxys faciliteert namelijk de doorvoer van Russisch gas via de haven van Zeebrugge naar andere landen buiten Europa.
Als we het Russische offensief een halt willen toeroepen, moet dit stoppen! De hoofdaandeelhouders van Fluxys zijn onze gemeentebesturen, en zij moeten dringend op hun verantwoordelijkheid gewezen worden.
De gemeenten van Brussel, verenigd onder de intercommunale "Interfin", hebben met hun aandelen ter waarde van 1,1 miljard euro wel wat te zeggen. Hoog tijd dus dat ze actie te ondernemen! Laten we de druk opvoeren door hen tonen dat Brusselaars willen dat ze het miljardencontract tussen Fluxys en de Russische gasleverancier stopzetten!
We nodigen je graag uit om te komen luisteren naar de uiteenzettingen van Promote Ukraine en TegenGas. Verdiep jezelf in de verhouding tussen ons economisch winstbejag, de klimaatcrisis, oorlog en mensenrechtenschendingen. Samen ontwarren we de kluwen van aandeelhoudersstructuren die ervoor zorgt dat niemand de verantwoordelijkheid opneemt in deze zaak! Tijdens de tweede helft van de avond denken we samen na over acties die we kunnen ondernemen in Brussel en Vlaanderen.
