Vredesactie @ ENGAGE TRIAL

Greetings, Honorable Jury!

Once again, you have been summoned to act as jurors in our latest edition of the ENGAGE Trial. For the new jurors among you, welcome to our fictitious courtroom! The ENGAGE Trial is a fictitious court where two parties (pro and contra) will present arguments to defend or dispute a statement. You, as jurors, will vote after the pleadings to determine the trial’s outcome. ⚖️
In a world torn by conflict and strife, the question of whether armed resistance is a legitimate means of fighting oppression or an act of terrorism remains fiercely debated. In the TRIAL, we will delve into the crucial debate motion ‘The (Un)Necessity of Armed Resistance’.

Advocating for the necessity of armed resistance, our pro team brings forth compelling arguments rooted in the fight for justice and liberation. They believe that, in certain circumstances, resorting to arms is essential for bringing a meaningful change.
On the other side of the debate, our contra team presents alternative methods to achieve social and political change. They argue that violence is not the answer and in fact, begets even more violence. Therefore, they promote peaceful protest and constructive dialogue as effective tools for reform.

Our panel of experts: Prof. dr. Koenraad Bogaert, Yasmina El Kaddouri, Naomi Zoka (Pax Christi), Quinten De Keersmaecker, Mattijs van den Bussche (Vredesactie), Omar Kareem

Don’t miss out on this interesting and thought-provoking event where ideologies collide and perspectives evolve! Secure your spot now and be part of the debate!

Yours truly,
the ENGAGE-team
