Update: 60 people participated on 3 April in the civil inspection of the Air Force Base 118 in Mont de Marsan. 13 activists were able to enter the base and were arrested for a couple of hours. 2 other protest manifestations took place in Brest on 3 April and Paris on 2 April.

In France, the “Non au Missile M51” collective calls for actions against the French Nuclear bases.
At this occasion, a civil inspection of the French Air Force base 118 is planned. This is one of the five Air bases hosting nuclear warheads. The base is located at Mont de Marsan, Landes (South-west part of France).
Nonviolent action training is provided in the area on April 1st and 2nd.

In Brest, Finistère (Brittany, west part of France), people will meet at 3pm, “place de la liberté” before moving towards the Préfecture maritime which is the Headquarter for the (sub)Marine part of the French nuclear forces (FOST). A motion in protest of the new French nuclear Missile M51 coming into service will be handed out to the authorities.

On April 2nd, the monthly silent vigil in front of the Operational Center of the nuclear forces (COFN), by the Ministry of Defense will take place in Paris.

The "Non au Missilie M51" collective just learned that between June and July 2010, a new M51 missile test will be held from the submarine “Le Terrible” (the only one able to shoot off M51 missile at this date) which will be the final test before the M51 actually come into service...
This is a blow to the NPT conference from the French government which is totally unacceptable.

In Brittany, activists from “Sortir du Nucleaire Cornouailles” protested on January 23rd when the last technical test of the new French nuclear missile was actually held. At the same time, balloons were sent off around the radars of CELM, the testing center where the M51 has been developed.
On December 1st, 2009 ten activists occupied a radar building in Biscarrosse, Landes, when the last technical M51 test was due. They received a few days ago a fine notice ordering them to pay € 150 each.
